Fatherhood

In his attempt to reconcile with his father Brian, Che reflected deeply on how he was impacted as a child growing up without a father. While he was able to break the cycle through music and the support of strong role models in his community, the effects of fatherlessness are devastating.

Fatherless boys and girls are:

  • Twice as likely to drop out of high school;
  • Twice as likely to end up in jail;
  • Four times more likely to need help for behavioral problems.

From mentoring, to providing youth with access to opportunity in your own home town, there are many ways to get involved. Click the button below to get involved in the work that our partner organizations are doing.

Both Che and Donnie’s story demonstrate the power of art, music, and spoken word to foster self-expression, build confidence, connect with a higher purpose, and help break the vicious cycle of poverty and homelessness. Find out how you can get involved, and how together, we can ensure our government prioritizes public funding for art and music programs nationwide.
